Don Barger, White Bear Lake
Stonecrete Inc is Don Barger's business, based in White Bear Lake, Minnesota.
Stone is the work he named first: stone set on and around houses, and stone that has worked loose put back right. He covers White Bear Lake and about 30 minutes around it.
Minnesota winters are hard on all of it. Water gets into the joints, freezes and pushes. Don's job is to find where that is happening and fix it before it turns into a bigger bill.
Don tells you plainly what the masonry needs, and what it does not, before any work starts.
Questions
What does Stonecrete do?
Stone first: stone set on and around houses, inside and out, and stone repair. Don also sets stone and thin brick on fireplace walls, pours concrete steps and walks, and builds block retaining walls. For anything else, call or text him and ask.
Where is Stonecrete based?
White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Don covers about 30 minutes around it. Call or text (612) 432-9467 to ask about your town.
Why is the stone on my steps flaking and coming loose?
Water gets into the stone and the joints, freezes and pushes, and road salt makes it worse every winter. Don looks at what has moved, resets what is loose and repoints the joints so water stays out.
My house sits on an old limestone foundation. Can the joints be fixed?
Often, yes. Old limestone was laid in soft lime mortar, so it needs mortar that suits it rather than hard cement. If a wall has moved or is bowing in, Don will tell you it may need an engineer to look first.
How do I get a price?
